The 2009 FBLA Leadership Conference

So I’m back from the FBLA conference and it was definitely an experience. I hoped and hoped that leaving home with kids from my school and having to be with them over night would not be a complete, utter failure. My hopes were on my side ;)

The morning started off a bit bitter for me, seeing that I was late arriving to the school receiving calls from the club’s vice president, “Jerrel where are you?! We’re ready to leave and I really don’t want you to miss out on this opportunity. Are you coming?”

Of course I was coming, I paid my money and could not let a day away from home escape my fingertips because a day away from home is just far too good to pass up…that in itself is another story, but you get the picture. Continue Reading»

The Pressure Phase

New layout!

I’m a little late getting the layout up…obviously. When school started back there was just no time for the computer, and I haven’t even really been home this week…. but better late than never right? I’m feeling kind of pressured right now, but it’s okay – I think. Final exams are coming up and I’m dreading the thought of bubbling in answers when Test day comes.

I had to stay after school everyday this week and have just been busy busy busy. Getting ready for a band Christmas concert in just a few days, getting my AP project together, preparing for All State auditions, and trying to manage school clubs can be a bit overwhelming. Today, at school I was a little “blah” because I was exhausted from late nights and thinking too much about things so I’m just going to try and calm down this weekend and meticulously prepare for finals.

Build Yourself A Serious Castle

Do you believe that there is a light at the end of every tunnel?

Being a person who battles with both external and internal problems on a daily basis, I’d like to think that there is a light at the end of every tunnel. You might ask yourself, “What does that mean?” To me it means that despite all the crap and negativity you come across, there is still something positive following it.

I only believe such because if things were so bad, why would I be given the chance to live another day? I’ve realized, especially after recent events that even the happiest people in the world have their own battles to face – and ultimately, no one is given the benefit of the doubt; we’re all just given a life to live. Life is a struggle, no doubt and life is…well let’s call it a tunnel. Some of us have longer tunnels than others, consider that one’s lifespan…one’s amount of time to endure certain events both good and bad. We can run through those tunnels and rush life, or we can walk at a comfortable pace and take on everything life has to offer. Continue Reading»

Counting Down The Days

I hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful one and ate lots and lots of food. (There goes my crappy intro). But seriously, Thanksgiving is a special day for us Americans and I hope everyone really does appreciate everything they have, whether it’s a little or a lot – if you have SOMETHING (you know like a life), then be thankful because it could be a lot worse.

Yesterday would have had to been one of our better celebrations in comparison to past years. At most of our “family gatherings,” the animosity that subsides within my family seeps through the death crack and the party becomes an argumentative fiasco, resulting in everyone going home angry and upset. Not cool. Luckily, my family has gotten better at making it through a gathering and have actually been getting along quite well. I could take the time to analyze why that is, but I rather not. I’m just thankful that we are being more “family like.” Yay us. Continue Reading»
