Website Information

Brief Synopsis

ThisFiasco.net opened on July 19th, 2008 and is owned by Jerrel Baker. The website itself is proudly powered by Wordpress. The purpose of this website is to be my personal blog where I share my thoughts, opinions and creativity. I consider this small space on the web my second home, and fortunately – everyone is welcome!

What’s In A Name?

You may be wondering why the name of this site is called ‘This Fiasco.’ For starters, it sounds cool. In greater detail, I chose the name because it represents the depiction of segments my life. First, let’s define the word “fiasco.”

fi⋅as⋅co
1. a complete and ignominious failure.

Synonyms:
1. disaster, catastrophe, debacle, flop, bomb.

I’ve experienced a lot of turmoil in my life (“catastrophes”) and must find solutions to each fiasco. Solving each issue one at a time, “This Fiasco” represents my current problem under progress to be resolved. Makes sense?

HOST

This domain name was purchased by Jenn (formally serenesky.net) and also hosted by her through a reseller. Jenn found my site when I was hosted by Wiizard.com and felt I deserved to have my own website. She even renewed my domain for another year and provides me with all the help I need free of charge.

HISTORY

Like many other teenagers, the world of graphic design and HTML began on MySpace. I used to be an addict when it came to creating layouts, and then coding them to my liking. It all began as an “experimenting” and then I grew to develop a full blown love for design. I bought a domain out of a whim “jay-crunkk.net” and before I knew what I was actually doing, the domain expired.

Eventually, I ventured to Freewebs, Blogspot and Xanga before venturing to a sub-domain. Blogging was the least of my interest, until of course I realized that I could blog and design (thanks to websites such as Xox Mariah, Swimchick and Outspoken Kate).

While having a home at various sub-domains, I wound up here. I’ve had this website for over a year and do not plan on leaving the web scene anytime soon. As stated before, this small space is like my second home and I’m more than happy to share it with the world wide web.
